Probably the best souvenir I got from Australia, my SurfSect watch has proven to be durable, stylish, and a great value. Although originally designed for those who surf and participate in other water sports, SurfSect watches are also great for travel thanks to their rugged design. After emailing them I found out that they also ship internationally. Their service is friendly and quick, plus they offer a 5-year warranty on their watches.
You can view their 2006/2007 catalog at http://www.surfsect.com/
They can also be contacted at sales@surfsect.com for more information and an updated 2008/2009 catalog.

In choosing a watch for travel I would consider the following:
1. Band Type
- Leather looks nice and has more styles available but needs more care and absorbs water
- Metal looks nice and is durable but cleaning can be an issue plus some people just don’t like the weight and feel of it
- Rubber is lightweight, comfortable, and easy to clean but it is hard to find styles other than the large sports-watch type.
2. Analog (classic looks) vs Digital (more functions like stopwatch/timer/alarm/etc.)
3. Make sure your watch has a built-in light.
4. Water Resistance of at least 100 meters for surfing and most outdoor sports (200m if you want to go diving).
5. Band that is screwed on to watch or a single, solid piece is preferable to a band held by spring pressure.

In this video I give a demo of the Citizen Aqualand 20th Anniversary model in dive mode. You’ll see what the display looks like as the watch descends and ascends in a simulated dive. Also shown in action are depth alarm, ascent rate alarm, and the surface mode and the dive log screens. I simulated diving by building a simple pressurized rig for the watch. Good fun.

Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Genesis 6-button Arcade Stick for the Sega Genesis video game console. This is a wonderful arcade joystick for the Sega Megadrive game system and is ideal for fighting games like Street Fighter II that use the six button layout. It has a fabulous arcade style joystick stick with a huge knob (hold your jokes!) perfect for gripping with your hand (watch it!). This joystick fighting controller for the MD is also ideal for games like Samurai Shodown, Twin Cobra and Air Diver. Any game that benefits from that arcade feel will be well paired with the 6-button Arcade Stick from Sega for use with the Sega Mega Drive. It is a hefty controller and a bit larger than the NES Advantage controller for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It has turbo fire (they call it Megafire) and huge, arcade style buttons. Classic Game Room loves this controller. But it today, it’s cheap and well worth the money because it is built like a tank and wants a new home. A home where it will be put to the test with Sega Genesis games.
